Try Out New Organization Helps Women do Business Around the World, at no Risk!
Miramar, FL (August, 26, 2001) – Heidi Richards, President of Eden Florist & Gift Baskets, and Publisher of WUN Publications, Inc. announces the launch of the Women’s Ecommerce Association, International – WECAI.org (pronounced wee-kī) . The new not-for-profit organization, focusing on promoting, educating and advocating for “women who do business on the web,” was the brainchild of Ms. Richards when she attended a Technology conference offered by the Minority/Women Business Enterprise of Broward County.
WECAI.org is an international organization focusing on promoting, educating and advocating for women who do business on the web. Ms. Richards, says, “I realized that with the help of all of the international relationships I have been developing we could also create a community of women who could connect on a global level. Our board of directors consists of women from Portugal, Italy, The United Kingdom, South Africa, Belize, New Zealand, Brazil and North America. We are also actively recruiting women from other parts of the world, including Asia, Egypt and Canada to serve on the charter board.
There are big plans in the works for WECAI.org. They include creating the FIRST Women’s Who’s Who in Ecommerce Directory, starting chapters on all seven continents, designing an Ecommerce Academy for women to further their knowledge and experience, and an International Congress bringing women together from every corner of the globe. The Congress is scheduled for September, 2005 and the location will be announced in the next few weeks. Linda Pereira, of CPL Events in Portugal and International Liaison to WECAI.org says, “It is truly wonderful to be a part of such a visionary organization. We know this launch is going to create excitement from all corners of the globe. Our goal is to encourage women everywhere to become ‘united through the mouse’.”
Ms. Richards has been a successful entrepreneur in South Florida for nearly 30 years starting with Topsy Turvy, a 24 hour Child Care Center. When she sold Topsy Turvy, Ms. Richards stumbled onto the floral industry as a part-time employee, just to stay busy while raising two young daughters. She purchased Eden Florist in 1981 and in 1997 began her writing and speaking career when she wrote The South Florida Network Directory of Women’s Organizations and Rose Marketing on a Daisy Budget. In 2001 she had the opportunity to speak at an International Conference in Cairo, Egypt sharing her experiences in marketing a small business, and the International “bug” bit her. Since then she has also spoken in The Netherlands and Portugal and will be a featured speaker at the W.I.N Conference in Geneva, Switzerland in October of this year.
