Meet Platinum Member, Nancy Allen,  President and CEO of the Women’s Business Development Council of Florida/Her Company. The Council is a local not for profit organization whose mission is to assist in the establishment and growth of women in business. The Council‘s goal is to change the face of business, one woman at a time.

Nancy has the honor of being selected as the U.S. Small Business Administration’s South Florida District 2011-2012 Women in Business Champion of the Year. She credits this award to the women business owners she has met and worked with over her many years at the WBDC. Nancy claims that she has the distinct honor and privilege of working in the company of women.

The WBDC is the Florida Regional Partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) which certifies that businesses are women-owned, operated, managed and controlled. The WBDC’s territory includes the state of Florida and Puerto Rico. The certification opens the door for national contracts as well networking opportunities with powerful and successful women business owners. The Council’s clients include 465 nationally Certified Women Business Enterprises (WBEs) with revenues of approximately $1 billion. Over 12,900 persons are employed by our members.

In 2012, Nancy was honored by ICABA as one of South Florida’s 100 most accomplished Caribbean Americans. She is especially proud of this award because it highlights her heritage as well as her professional accomplishments.

Nancy is an active member of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) where she is a member on their Instant Impact Team. Nancy sits on the national board of WBENC and is involved in the WBENC Global Business Committee. Nancy is also a member of the local chapter of the Organization of Women in International Trade and was recently the host council for a trade mission with 11 women business owners from the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs from Canada.

Nancy Allen was born in Haiti and raised in South Florida. She is bi-lingual in English and French and is fluent in Spanish. Nancy has been working in the fields of international, community and economic development for over 20 years. She holds a Master’s Degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
