Pinterest is the latest craze in social networks. At the time these videos are being recorded there are more than 12 million people registered on Pinterest.

With Pinterest you can make friends, promote a lifestyle, use it like a focus group, crowdsource ideas, run contests, honor others and have one easy place to access important visuals you in one place.

In this 3-part video tutorial video (less than 15 minutes combined) I will show you how to set up an account and how to use pinterest. In video one we talk about how to get an “invitation” to join and set up your account:

You can like pictures, pin pictures to your own board or repin other peoples’ graphics (called pins) to your own board. Repinning is easy and nothing is required.

To add your own picture you will need to activate the PinIt button. Do that by dragging it to the bookmarks as shown in video two:

You can also pin your own files on your own computer by going to the top menu and clicking “Add+”, and selecting “Upload a Pin”.

Once you upload the pin, you create a category to pin the picture to. Pinterest also gives you a list of suggested categories which you can use or make up your own the way I did in the video did. It will be listed in your account as a BOARD.

Don’t worry if you pin something to the wrong board because you can edit and change the board. Or delete if you prefer.

If you prefer not to have your pins shared on FACEBOOk or twitter go to: on the top menu click on your profile picture or name or drop down arrow, and select “Settings”, on the settings page scroll down to the bottom and select “On or Off” for Facebook and/or Twitter.

To see your boards, go to your account by clicking on either your photo, your name or the down arrow in the top right hand corner of Pinterest. This is the page you can also see how many are following you and you are following. When you click on either one, you can see their six most recent “pins.” If you like one, click on it and repin it to your own wall.

You can even add a price to a pin. Here’s how:

In the description box add the “$” symbol and the price in number format, that will put the price in the top corner of your pins, (show with Quirky Marketing Calendar in my business books board.

That’s Pinterest in a nutshell! Check out the cool infographics about Marketing Your Business with Pinterest below to learn more about why Pinterest is fast becoming business owners newest social marketing tool. And be sure to follow me on Pinterest at http://pinterest.com/heidisinterests. You can also follow Rosana Santos (used in the videos to demonstrate how Pinterest works) at http://pinterest.com/bigchef.

I believe that we all come into the world programmed for success, but many of us get sidetracked by circumstances.

If you could accept that you are actually hardwired to succeed in life, what would you do differently?

If you knew that the only reason you are not enjoying the success that is your birthright, how would you change the circumstances that are holding you back?

Do you know what is holding you back?

Do you know what success looks like for you?

Is it money, power, status, health, achievement, happiness, peace, contribution?

Before you can be successful at anything, you first need to define what it looks like. Otherwise, how will you know when you achieve it?

Once you know what success looks like for you, then you can see more clearly why you don’t have it and what you need to do to get it!

And when you know what success looks like for you and what you need to do to get it, you have a plan!

And, when you have a plan, you’re halfway there!

All you have to do is keep moving towards your vision of success and you’ll be all the way there!

About this session: Online video is one of the best marketing strategies and venues to engage your audience. Video allows you to communicate your message on several levels – via visual imagery, the spoken word, music and visual text.

With online video you can also reach a huge audience for a minimal investment, and the ROI of online video marketing can be much greater than other online marketing efforts.

  • According to eMarketer ~ 58% of all web traffic is video
  • According to the New York Times, more than 78% of all web visitors watch online video
  • The average YouTube visitor spends 27 minutes watching video per day  and YouTube is the NUMBER 2 search engine. People are looking for what you have to offer!
  • The search engines visit video sites every few minutes so your videos appear in Google, Yahoo and MSN just MINUTES after you submit, not days or weeks
  • And if you have been using social media, you know that you can also use video on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
  • Because video is so popular, video links and clips often show up in the search engines before other content and can give your website rankings a boost unlike other content can -giving those who use it an “unfair” advantage over the competition.

In this session, Jessica Kizorek will show you how to produce, package, promote and share your videos with your target audience.  She will share valuable tips, insights and strategies to help you grow your business using a medium chances are your competition doesn’t use. And you will learn how to do so effectively, efficiently and economically!

What’s Your Word for 2012?

"whats your word for 2012"On several forums this month the discussion has centered around this very topic. The topic being, choosing a word for the year. For some, the word was “hope” “commitment,” opportunity,” “present,” “vibrant” and so forth. It was an interesting discussion. Some people struggled with their word, others said, they didn’t choose their word, it chose them. And I too feel my word chose me. It is a word I often use and really resonate with. My word is Elan… it means “a feeling of strong eagerness, inspired by passion or enthusiasm ~ a refined quality of gracefulness and good taste.” In fact, Elan has been my word for several years now.

Another word that comes to mind is RENEWAL. Because the New Year is suppose to be the promise of renewal, a renewed sense of excitement, anticipation and growth. And if the past three+ years have taught us anything, it is that we have to plan better for our own futures. So many people have suffered great losses of time, talent, treasure and even life. That is why we are given the present and possibly a future. I have never been one to look back or dwell on the past. After all, it is the past. We can remember it, be nostalgic for it and even get a feeling of warmth or sadness over what has happened in the past. But we cannot change the past. So today I look at 2012 and am filled with ELAN and a renewed sense of better things to come.

What about you? What are your words for 2012?

And with that I am excited to announce that our new site is live. Thanks to Charly Leetham and her brilliant team atAskCharlyLeetham.com. You can read the post I wrote about it “Membership has it’s privileges.” While the site is no where near complete, it is functioning much better than it has in several years. And when you login to the backend you will see a new member dashboard with links to our Communities, Resources and Training. Be sure and check it out.

In addition, we are redoing our Global Directory and invite you to submit a listing (if you have not already done so). We plan to promote this across several channels including social media and more. Go ahead, its FREE.

And finally, we have crossed paths with so many amazing women in the past few months. Several of which have joined us as either Platinum or Lifetime members. They are listed inside this issue.

Be sure and check out our Members in the news,Resources section, Recommended reading and of course,Events. Lots happening both internally in Women in Ecommerce AND with our members.

Thank you for your support and friendship. We expect great things in 2012 for each of you.  May this be the beginning of your best year EVER. Happy New Year!
